Life at the Bar LLC Blog

Attorney development coaching for associates and partners

Welcome!

Welcome mat

Welcome to the new home of the Life at the Bar blog!

Things are still a little dusty and under construction, but on the whole, we’re getting settled in here.  Please look around, perhaps discover an old post that you haven’t seen before, and get comfortable.  You’ll notice several new functions, including social bookmarking, post popularity ratings, and a “related post” function that (as I get more posts tagged) will bring up earlier related posts for better continuity of discussion.

If you see anything that isn’t working as it should, please drop me an email and let me know what still needs some work.

Please be sure to update your blog subscription if appropriate, and remember that subscribers to the Life at the Bar Survival Kit will get weekly blog summaries along with a report designed to help associates succeed in a law firm practice, an assessment that will help you pinpoint changes to improve your practice and life as a lawyer, and a recording of the teleclass Five Foundations of Time Management for Attorneys.

Meanwhile…. Please visit the latest edition of The Complete Lawyer: Viewing the Law in 2020.  You’ll find articles such as Bill Cobb’s Are You Ready for the Revolution in Legal Services?, which describes 4 trends that “will drive changes in the legal profession’s environment and destroy the old business model,” including the emergence of “client power,” which is already causing substantial change in the profession.  Also included is an article about what corporate counsel want from their outside lawyers (this may change your view of billing!) and a series of interviews on what makes lawyers successful.  As always, it’s a great issue.
